The Incredible work of Xiao Li, RCA fashion graduate 2013 and ITS 2013 Diesel award winner

I just laid eyes on Xiao Li's work while at Stylesight's trend seminar last week and got the instinctive feeling she is a big key into the future. Now it seems her name is popping up everywhere! Big congratulations to Xiao Li for winning the Diesel Award at the lastest competition of ITS 2013!!!

She is inspired by Architecture and the original Balenciaga, moulding knitwear with silicone and spacer fabric, I'm not very knowledged in these areas of materials but it sounds very new and the outlook is just so refreshing.. From both the concept point of view and the aesthetic of end product point of view, it's a win win for me. Absolutely stunning!

More via Dezeen's interview with her here

Michelle Lowe-Holder

I’m mesmerized by these photography of ex CSM MA graduate Michelle Lowe-Holder, there’s something very complimentary to the draping jewelry against the blooming curves of a pregnant woman.
Interesting interview by her too here, via the 1Granaryblog.

I love reading this blog, it takes me back to the mindset of being a young student, reminds me of the true meaning of being a design and an artist… and that, it’s possibly, never too late to fix a regret and chase after your dream.

Catherine Baba, forever a muse

When I attended a trend seminar recently, it citied Catherina Baba as the main inspiration for one of the dominant Gypsy/Bohemian/Ornamental mix and match aesthetic trending, for the FW 14/15 season.

I’ve always thought Catherina Baba as one of the chicest, my most admired dresser. She is just the absolute epitome of a chic goddess from the past who got left behind in the modern days, she is so Parisian, and when I see her clothing, I can feel the aura of the twenties; I can almost hear the sounds and smell the scent. Is that strange? She should definitely have been in the Great Gatsby.
